I think you're missing the rich irony here.
 
This is trademark behavior of WLM :-)
 
It does stuff like this for you.
 
WLM can be used for email. But for USENET,
using a separate application is recommended.
That's my suggestion. For one, these little
"signature accidents" won't happen.
 
You will notice WLM users trying to "fudge"
their usage of WLM, by top-posting. As that is
the easiest way to make it look like WLM is
somehow USENET-compatible. Then they'll give you
some story about "how they like to top-post",
when in fact all they're doing is hiding the
inadequacy of WLM for the job.
 
A rich tradition of irony, that WLM.
