Good news. I am casting entire screen now in both W7 and W10. Turns
out I needed to do a more careful read of:

which says in part:
To share your entire screen, you will need to click on the down arrow
icon after clicking on the cast icon. Then, select Cast screen/Window
(experimental).
I post this only to maybe help some other poor lost soul. Please
ignore if you were/are not having my problem.
