 One Of My Mistakes

Howdy!,

I usually use a 2TB Internal HDD with a Tripp-Lite
USB 2.0 to SATA / IDE Adapter when I back up the XP pc.

One of the many many mistakes I've made using computers was when I saw a
very good price for a 4TB WD My Passport "External" HDD and bought it.

I have bought several External HDDs up to 3TB size and used them to
store True Image Back Ups I've made.

When I connected the 4TB'er to the XP Desktop, XP never saw it.

The Vista Home Basic Notebook saw it just fine.

So I plugged the 4TB HDD in the Vista pc and used the Tripp-Lite Adapter to
put copies of the Back Up Files that are on two of the Internal HDDs on to
the new 4TB HDD.

Then I used a MD5 Checker Program to see if the Files on the 4TB HDD were the
same as are on the Internal HDD's and all was O.K.

My Original Plan was to put those Back Up Files on the Internal HDD's on to
the 4TB'er and then reuse one of the 2TB HDDs for Backing Up by Erasing the
True Image Files I had on it.

Now I'm not so sure I want to take those Files off either one of those
2TB Drives.

I know I shouldn't be apprehensive but I don't want to lose any of the
Father, Child, GrandChild backup files.

Even though I know I can use the method I did to get the files on the 4TB HDD
and put them back on the 2TB drive they came from I still am concerned about
removing them.
