I'm just using whats already built into Windows 10 & I've turned Controlled 
Folder Access on to help with any Ransomware that may slip through.  I'm also 
using this script I found to block unfriendly countries with Windows

Maybe try a system restore if you have that turned on in Windows 10 to roll 
back before you installed Avast or a Windows 10 reset if you don't have that 
turned on.
