Ed,
EV> I am too cautious (paranoid?) to Always Allow every Safe Address, thinking
EV> that even a popular web page/web site may get bit by Malware put on it by
EV> a Black Hat Hacker (even for a short time) and my visiting that page would
EV> allow the Black Hat Hackers GIFT to get in my computer.
You have to "practice safe hex".
EV> You know that I wasn't a normal person from reading messages that I
EV> post.
No comment...discretion is the better part of valor.
EV> I usually don't watch or listen to TV or Radio when the News is being
EV> told about.
You and me both. Now, the weather and sports, are a different matter.
EV> I use Mailwasher free and Mozilla Thunderbird for Email.
I registered MailWasher Pro a long time ago, and used the Courier Email
program, which I also registered. But, since I'm now with GMail, I don't
use those others anymore.
EV> If I see an unwanted Email after I used Mailwasher to see if the Mail
EV> Server has any for me I will go to the Web Mail site and delete that
EV> message,
I would just zap it with MailWasher...it did allow a "safe preview" of
the email.
EV> I don't use the computer for any bsnking, If I want to buy something I
EV> see advertised by a Companies internet page, I will call their toll
EV> free number to see if they will accept my personal check for the item
EV> and then send what I ordered when the check has cleared. Works for me.
I use the app on my smartphone just to check the balances. I rarely write
checks anymore...most of my transactions are done electronically.
EV> Both of those things have crossed my mind, but I haven't desired to
EV> shell out any cash to buy new things for the c=64.
On the Multimode Digital Voice Net last week, on The QuadNet Array, the
question was on operating systems. When I mentioned that in the past, I was
running GT Power for dial-up under DOS 5.0 with DESQView and the QEMM Memory
Manager from Quarterdeck Software, you should've heard the "wipe the dust
off that one!!" comments.
Both Quarterdeck, who did QEMM and DESQView...and TeleGraphix, who did
RIP Graphics, are long gone out of business.
Daryl, WX4QZ
... BBS?? Yeah, I do BBS...but, I can control it.
