I prefer light background and dark text. I find it more consistent with the
other panes, and I have become used to this (most GUIs, the Web...) over the
years.

I currently have black text, dark green quotes, grey control info and white
background both in reader and editor. (I also have it this way in GoldEd+, BTW)
