Problem is solved by just pressing the "End" key, or the "Backspace" key. 
Infact, if you are using your mouse to get to a certain place in the message,
you may as well press the End/Backspace key since you're gonna be typing at
that point anyway!   ;-)

I don't see that as an issue.  Infact, it can be a convenience if I need to do
something like underlining with the "^^^^" on the next line below a line of
text. I'd hate it if I had to reach for the mouse to get there or if I had to
enter spaces manually to get there.
