Can relate.  IT's just one of those things I thought of
years ago.

Can relate to that one.  The sump pump thing wasn't original to me, guy owned
the house told me about that one.  I
probably would have thought of it, but when I moved in he
told me that was one of the regular quarterly things he did.

After the flood of '93 when we lost electricity for two
days, when it kicked in our sump pump had plenty of work to
do.  Of course it wasn't drinkable water, but i ended up
capturing it in garbage cans for bathing.  I attached a hose to the outlet for
the sump pump in the yard, used some coat
hanger wire and some duct tape to get the hose to stay over
the container, and had water for bathing.

Our neighbors with their all electric kitchens were moaning
too, while we had burgers on the grill, pancakes on the camp stoe the next
morning, and hot coffee to drink, bottled
water of course.
