Well, we are in the city proper, in an area somewhat raised from much of the surrounding areas, and our basement floor was a thin concrete over dirt, which has raised in spots and allows any water collecting on the floor to just drain away naturally into the dirt below... not so good if we were planning on finishing the basement, but for possible flooding it works just fine. House was built about 1900... ;) And the nearest "crick" is the Genesee River, about a mile away... ttyl neb ...
