Ah.  So, in order to use those commands effectively, one has to be in
Expert Mode...  I generally stay out of that mode, even when fairly
familiar with a board, since things change so much from board to board. 
But, I did give it a try, and sure enough, I was finally able to see
what all the slash commands were, and also to see who'd been on that
day...  Thanks for figuring it out for me.  :)
